[JES Lee In Kyung] With the ‘boy prettier than a girl’ syndrome, Lee Jun Ki blasted the 2006 Entertainment field. There were rumors about his bubble popularity, but the 27 year old Lee Jun Ki flew in 2008 with the SBS drama ‘Iljimae’.

To celebrate the upcoming 2009, Lee Jun Ki had an interview with IS (Daily Sports) and said “it feels like I’m over viewing my acting career in my 20s” and added “I plan to enter the military toward the end of the year so I want to spend 2009 without any regrets. I hope IS’ (Daily Sports’) people will also spend a meaningful year” while smiling.

The reason why 2008 was meaningful to Lee Jun Ki is not solely due to the success of ‘Iljimae’ but also because of his sudden meeting with Seo Tae Ji. Through Seo Tae Ji, elementary Lee Jun Ki fell deeply in dancing and rap. On August 2008, he was the MC for the ‘Seo Tae Ji Comeback Show’ and was given the opportunity to meet his idol.

During the earthquake disaster in China, with his fan club, Lee Jun Ki did a helping donation exercise and end of the year, he donated $100,000 for the foreign children living in Korea.

“Fans from Asia started the donation exercise with my name. I forgot the most special thing in my life so my heart stung. I’m thinking about returning the love to my fans from Asia through events”.

Watching the same place now, I thought “During that time, I really wanted to act so I was crazy”.

I received a lot of stress from the bad comments and the bubble incident.

“I rather wanted the bubbles that people talked about to quickly disappear and be evaluated with only my acting. However, if the thing called popularity is here now, I tried to positively control my mind into thinking that I should try things I could only do while I’m popular”.

No matter what, he said that fans gave him the most strength.

“After the ‘King and the Clown’, people offered me to do a boy dressed like girl type of thing and offered to give me millions of won (Note: Korean currency). The reason why I wasn’t hasty was because of my fans who were always there believing and waiting for me.”

He also explained how top star Rain (same age as Lee Jun Ki) was a good stimulator to him.

“In this one program, I saw Rain’s suffrages and his success. He is a top star but he decided to start fresh in Hollywood and continued to challenge himself to the limit. If you crazily crave something truthfully, I think your desire will be answered.”

Lee Jun Ki’s motto is “There is nothing in this world that won’t work. It’s just that I’m lazy”. Every year he thinks about his motto. He said “I’m planning a special event for my fans since it’s my last 20s before entering the military”.

Upcoming spring, It has been planned that he will show his dances, singing, and other performances through a concert-like fan meeting. He will also be participating in the SBS TV drama ‘Unseen war’.

Lee Jun Ki revealed that his ideal girl is cute and small. He said “An actor needs a lot of relationships. In terms of that, my young lifetime is a pity”. He became popular so suddenly so he wasn’t able to have a girlfriend publicly and it’s been long since he stopped visiting his favorite street pub. Even if he goes to a night club, Bu-king (Note: instant meetings) definitely doesn’t happen. Moreover, he can’t even go out to the hall.

“My only celebrity friend is Poppin’ Hyun Joon. Other actors don’t understand how I relate with my fans through dancing and singing and tells me ‘Why do actors have to put up a show?’ But, Poppin’ Hyun Joon understood the kind of projects I pictured in my mind and it’s really reliable since we can share our ideas”.

After finishing the drama ‘Iljimae’, I made a lot of drinking friends. With my sunbaes (Note: seniors) who participated in the drama with me, Kim Chang Wan and Kim Rae Ha etc., we shared our problems through our shot glass.

“’Iljimae’ was a project consisted of people who if I wanted to drink at a late time, I could call anytime. Thanks to that, end of this year, my schedule was full with drinking arrangements. I thought that my drinking ability was limitless but I’ve felt that now it’s a different story since I’m aging” (smiles).
