Iljimae Solo Stage!

He didn’t receive the grand acting award. However, it’s not an exaggeration to say that the ‘2008 SBS Grand Acting Awards Ceremony’ was Lee Jun Ki’s solo stage.

The ‘2008 SBS Grand Acting Awards’ took place on the 31st at Seoul Deung-chon-dong SBS hall. It was a festival for the stars who’ve brightened SBS dramas this year.

The ‘Grand Acting Awards’ was opened by ‘Iljimae’s’ main character Lee Jun Ki, who brought forth the 2008 ‘hero syndrome’. While the drums and gayageum (Note: Korean traditional string instrument) were playing, Lee Jun Ki came on stage saying that he has the paper with the grand award winner’s name written on it.

He said “I don’t want the closing to come right after the opening. (Grand Award) You’re curious right? I’m also very curious but they didn’t tell me” and added “If you’re with us till the end, you’ll be able to meet the honorable winner” and let the others know the beginning of the ‘Grand Acting Award’ ceremony.

His doings shined in the gag corner where his talents proved that he can be a comedian himself. Lee Jun Ki presented a unique stage where he parodied Ootchatssa’s popular corner ‘Woongie Father’ with Lee Mun Shik and Lee Jong Won.

In ‘Woongie Father’, he took the role of woongie and it seemed like the comedian who plays the actual character woongie came on stage. His performance surprised the audience. Lee Jun Ki’s movements and words made people burst into laughter.

Even before he received his awards, he had to go up on stage twice. It’s not only that. Lee Jun Ki won three awards that day and became popular for being the most active in the awards ceremony.

On this day, Lee Jun Ki won the top 10 award, netizen most popular award, and top excellence award.

Lee Jun Ki said “I thought about what it would be like to get good ratings and receive a big award and after receiving it (award), I feel really good” and added “I’m thankful for Iljimae’s Lee Yong Suk PD and staffs for always make me fly and crawl”.

As an actor, of course they can be greedy towards the grand award. However, it will be remembered that Lee Jun Ki was the most active actor in this awards ceremony.

Backbone Actors Of “Iljimae” Becoming A Hot Issue

Lee Moon-sik, Kim Chang-wan, and Ahn Kil-kang, the backbone actors of Iljimae are getting more attention recently.

Lee Moon-sik plays the role of Swe-dol, Iljimae’s adoptive father. He showed his ‘passion’ by volunteering to taking out his teeth to differentiate from his character in “Damo“. The producers, who were moved, inserted the story of his teeth coming out in the drama.

In the drama, Swe-dol will face the danger of getting his wrist cut off from Byeon-shik (Lee Won-jong) because he assaulted Shi-wan. But eventually, it will change to him getting his teeth pulled.

Following his role in “King and I”, Ahn Kil-kang drew attention when he shaved his head for his role of a fake Buddhist monk. In “Iljimae”, he plays the important role of Bong-soon’s (Lee Yeong-ah) adoptive father and martial arts teacher to Iljimae.

Kim Chang-wan is growing a beard to fulfill the role of king. He is working carefully to exhibit a realistic charisma as the villain who corners his younger brother Lee Won-ho into death.

There is anticipation if the backbone actors will bring more popularity to “Iljimae”, which secured its spot as a top drama after its first broadcast.
