Hero Gets Pop-Star Cameos And A Japanese Broadcast [2009.10.10]

Driven by the star power of Lee Junki, MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama Hero [히어로] has been licensed for a Japanese broadcast even before it airs in Korea. This is not that surprising when one considers Lee Junki’s widespread popularity throughout Asia, but what IS surprising is the recent admission that the licensing was done far in advance — as far back as last November.

A source explained on October 9 that most dramas in this climate are subject to economic considerations and licensing is generally not finalized until two to four episodes have aired. “However, in Hero’s case, recognition of the solid synopsis and lead actor Lee Junki has led to an unusual circumstance of an early sale at a high price.”

Also announced on the 9th was the drama’s confirmed cameo of pop girl group KARA. The ladies will be featured in the first episode in a performance scene. The mini-concert marks the first meeting for Lee Junki and Kim Min-jung, who play a reporter and a police detective, respectively. They get off on the wrong foot, so I’m betting we can expect a lot of bickering in their future.

The KARA members said of the cameo opportunity, “It’s an honor for us to start off this drama together with Lee Junki and Kim Min-jung, who are actors we have always liked. We’re already excited just thinking about filming, and and really looking forward to it. It feels exciting to be able to show a different side of KARA in the drama.”

Hero premieres on November 18, after Heading to the Ground ends.

Kim Min Jung, casting for MBC latest Wed-Thur drama ‘Hero’ (tentatively named), mentioned her special promise with Lee Jun Ki whom she has worked with before 5 years ago in year 2004 movie ‘Flying Boys’.

Kim Min Jung said that, “Lee Jun Ki has passed the script to me a year ago and mentioned that it would be really good if we could shoot the drama together. Because it is very hard to have a chance to shoot a drama together even if the actors have very good relationship with each other. I really appreciate for Jun Ki’s thoughtfulness about this.” “But it’s a pity that I am already tied up with another piece of work back then, hence I am really happy that we are going to have a chance to work together again.” Kim Min Jung also mentioned that, “When meeting up with Jun Ki for the new drama, we have already promised with each other that we will break all rules, ‘Hero’ will be a big success”. And hence announce her promise with Jun Ki.

The ‘Hero’ production staff mentioned, “Having steady acting skill and wonderful interpretation of roles, Kim Min Jung has always merged with the roles in her works. Hence having Kim Min Jung and Lee Jun Ki as partners, we are very much anticipating for the chemical reaction between these two.

On the other hand, ‘Hero’ from MBC which will be aired on November after the drama ‘Heading to the Ground’, will be competing with KBS2 TV drama ‘Iris’ and SBS drama ‘You’re Beautiful’.

‘Hero’ has published the casting outlook for the 5 leading characters.

Planning to be on aired by November 11th, MBC new drama ‘Hero’ has published the casting outlook for the 5 leading cast consist of Lee Jun Ki, Kim Min Jung, Paek Yoon Shik, Eom Gi Jun and Shin Ju Ah.

The photos are taken during the drama poster shooting on the 17th at Il-san MBC Dream Center, the photos has caught everyone’s attention once published.

Lee Jun Ki who preferred mobility and loose outfit fits nicely into the role of passionate reporter Jin Do Hyeok and his actions and expressions has made the shooting scene even more pleasant. While Kim Min Jung has cut her hair and wears a checks shirt, pairing with short gun and handcuffs, she presented the role of Ju Jae In as a policewoman.

Paek Yoon Shik who cast as Jo Yong Deok wears a hat pairing with long coat, his charisma has brought much attention of the staffs around him. Eom Gi Jun wears a smart suit and pairs with a spectacle which perfectly fits to the role of cold blooded reporter Gang Hae Seong. While Shin Ju Ah who cast as the daughter of enterprise president, Choe Ho Gyeong wears a long gown, with her alluring looks has made the scene even more elegant.

‘Hero’ will be broadcasting on November 11th.

MBC new drama ‘Hero’ has performed drama shooting ceremony on the 20th at Yang-Ju Gyeong-Gi-Do MBC Culture Village.

On the day, the location includes the director for ‘Hero’, Kim Gyeong Hi. And also included Lee Jun Ki and the rest of the remaining actors and staffs. Coming together praying for the success of the drama. When Lee Jun Ki’s fans showed up at the location and bring with them a 100 sets of lunch pack, sharing with all the staffs and actors, everyone has felt the strength and determination.

The director, Kim Gyeong Hi prayed for, “Wishing that the drama will finish shooting safe and smoothly, and everyone work together to complete it happily and healthily.” “Will do my best for ‘Hero’ to be one of the 2009 drama.”

Super JK Returns !

Our dear Lee Jun Ki has been touring Asia with Episode II and now he is back as the awesome actor.

After performing in Taiwan on 26th Sept, which was his last stop for his Asia tour, he arrived back in Korea on the 28th after promoting the launch of his new photo book (see previous post) on the 27th.

He’s now back to film his new drama. Without any rest, he has been in three different countries in 3 days. He finished his first filming session with success by raising up the atmosphere with his banter. After all, Lee Junki has the reputation of being the “Clown” among his fellow actors.

Lee Junki will be making a return on TV as a role of a journalist, Jin Do Hyuk, for the new MBC Drama, Hero In the story, Jin Do Hyuk is a man who has got nothing but just his passion and optimism towards his life as a “third-class” newspaper reporter.  Kim Min Jung will play his love interest although she was the second choice after Han Ji Min dropped out due to personal reasons.

Lee Junki revealed after his filiming, “Although the holiday isn’t that long, I hope all of you guys have a great Chuseok with your friends and family. May the happiness be with you.”

Lee Junki’s new drama will unveil their first episode on November 18th, succeeding the current drama “Heading to the Ground” led by Yunho.
