Korean actor Lee Jun-ki will receive an award for his contribution in promoting Korea’s traditional martial arts to the public through his work, according to his agency on Thursday.

Mentor Entertainment announced in a press release that the Korea Martial Arts Coalition (KMAC) will hand Lee the Martial Arts Actor award at an awards ceremony on December 20.

Lee had done martial arts in the SBS drama “Iljimae” and MBC’s “Time Between Dog And Wolf.”

“When I’m doing action scenes, I can show the beauty of the physical body as well as the beauty of action movements,” Lee was quoted as saying. “To me, all the wounds I’ve gotten from doing action scenes feel like badges of honor. I am very honored and grateful to receive this award.”

An official at KMAC explained that there has been a growing interest in the media to promote traditional martial arts to the general public and that Lee’s work in his dramas have helped raise awareness of the sport.

Lee shot to instant stardom in 2005 playing a woman-like clown in the hit film “The King and the Clown” and was recently voted the most popular Korean Wave star in China. He currently stars in MBC TV series “Hero” as a passionate reporter working for a third-rate magazine.

LJK: Thanks to overseas families who came to drama sites

11 11 2009

Hello everyone, I’m Jun Ki
The weather is colder, how is everyone ?
Recently the most important is good health
Not only the flu but also the prevalent flu epidemic
Really something to worry about.
Now looking after your own health is also caring for others.
Everyone must take care of your health ^^

Drama filming has started, although overseas fans visited the sites, but I’m worried about all of you. So I need to say something here ^^;
It has been discovered that some unscrupulous travel agents cheated fans into paying money through improper dealings
To recognise and like another country’s culture is not an easy task. All of you understand this.
I should express my gratitude to those who respect Korean culture and arts. However there are unscrupulous idiots who specially make use of innocent fans who love Korean culture and arts. Seeing these people, it really makes me feel ridiculous and angry.
Highly priced package..but cannot provide worthy service ?
No planning ahead..no scheduled tour, just exploiting the naive fans. This is not our principle, it will damage the image of Korea. (Please wake up !)

Also my overseas families, without confirmed information or announcement for activities and tour, you must be aware and be suspicious. Please do not be scammed, there will be official notice posted. Will not do things half-way.
Hoping that our families will not be hurt.

In future I will prepare various methods to meet you, I hope you will not be too anxious and be cheated.
Furthermore, I will pay more attention and will not allow such incident to take place.
I will surely deal with these people if given the chance (will surely let them die)

The filming is going smoothly, I thank everyone who came to give me support on the sites.
I will work even more diligently..fight
Thanks to overseas families who came to drama sitesing !
I specially came to convey the gratitude of the team
I had already said this at the start, recently good health is most important. Be on guard !!! Prevent !!! All must prevent !

Anyway I thank everyone.
I love you all.

Lee Jun Ki Exudes devilish charms

11 11 2009

Actor Lee Jun Ki changes into a totally different hero in his return to the TV screen. In MBC’s new drama series “Hero”, acting as a hot blooded reporter Jin Do Hyuk, Lee Jun Ki presents to everyone a happy and charming character who seems to have emerged from a manga series.

In the drama, Jin Do Hyuk is a reporter who dashes around the whole day for a strange third rate news publisher. No matter what is the issue, he uses many mischievous antics and is someone who cannot simply resolve any issue in an easy way. However, he is also one who is full of compassion and concern for others.

After his continuous soul searching as a result of his experiences with his reckless confrontations, from an ordinary person like any of us, he eventually transforms into a real reporter. And this drama will present to us the many real and lively faces of such a mischievous, hot blooded reporter.

In the drama, the role played by Lee Jun Ki is a “happy and jovial Hero” who resolves the unhappiness of ordinary citizens suffering under unfair pressures imposed by society’s elite and this is an extra ordinary character who is a departure from the hitherto fixed image of a hero.

Lee Jun Ki expressed “In the past my characters are usually complex and serious, and I wondered whether fans and audience will be bored. Through Jin Do Hyuk, I hope to present a resourceful yet humorous and realistic character. I hope to hear comments such as “Even in the role of such a humane and ordinary citizen, Lee Jun Ki is able to deliver an outstanding performance.””

Hero production staff indicated that “Lee Jun Ki is very natural in portraying the actions and expressions of Jin Do Hyuk, a character who has a particularly bright and cheerful personality. Lee Jun Ki was very comical in his acting, causing his co-stars and production staff to burst into laughter and as a result, the production site becomes engulfed in a jovial and happy atmosphere.”

“Hero”, the drama wherein Yoon Su Yi replaced Kim Min Jung due to her shoulder injury, will premiere on 18 Nov.

In particular, since her debut, Yoon Su-Yi has frequently indicated during interviews that she would like to try her acting skills in the role of a police officer and her role as Joo Jae In in “Heor” finally gives her the opportunity to fulfill her wish.
