2 years without you

Last week, we reported that there was a possibility that Lee Junki might have to give up on filming the drama Faith due to his army enlistment. It has been confirmed today that he has been dropped from the cast.

The reason was because Lee Junki will be enlisting for the army on May 3rd.

His agency said, “Originally, he was supposed to enlist at the end of this year so he could continue on with his acting. However, we’ve recently received word from the Office of Manpower Administration that it would be hard for him to continue on with acting. He will be enlisted into active duty on May 3rd at Choongnam Nonsan…

With his sudden enlistment, we are trying to quickly resolve his schedule for the movie he is filming now, Grand Prix. Although it appears inevitable that he will leave the movie halfway through filming, we are still looking for solutions. ”

Lee Junki is currently in Yokohama, Japan promoting his drama Hero along with actress Yoon So Yi. They are expected to return home on the 29th.

We reported yesterday that actor Lee Junki will be enlisting in the army next Monday on May 3rd and he is about to incur some major losses because of this.

JG Company expressed on the 29th, “We had received the enlistment notice on the 12th of this month but we had to apply for a deferment because of his movie and drama filming and ambassador role for the Expo 2010 Shanghai. But our application was rejected on the 28th and they requested Lee Junki to turn up for enlistment on May 3rd.”

They continued, “Lee Junki already said before that national service was something that every Korean male should go through and so he will go of course.

It’s just that he wanted to keep his promise with fans to finish his filming duties, so he submitted a deferment application. He is really sorry that he isn’t able to complete his jobs and especially apologetic to those who are affected by this. I also want to say sorry to fans for not keeping my promise.”

They added, “We respect the decision and we hope that they can find someone suitable to take over Junki’s role in Grand Prix and Faith.”

Having dropped out of Grand Prix which was in the midst of filming, Lee Junki will be returning all appearance fees that were given earlier. Although Junki had defaulted on the contract, this was something that was out of his control, but he will take responsibility and compensate the production for delaying the schedule.

After enlisting on May 3rd, Lee Junki will begin his 5 weeks of basic military training before starting his two year term as an active solider.

He will return as a civilian in 2012.

Sneak peek of Lee Junki and Kim Tae Hee’s upcoming movie Grand Prix [April 18, 2010]

The upcoming movie Grand Prix has released its first still cut from the film. The movie stars big name actors Lee Junki and Kim Tae Hee. Even before seeing the picture, we knew these two were playing each other’s love interests but the photos definitely shows that it’s a sad movie.

After losing her horse through an accident, Kim Tae Hee’s character Joohee leaves for Jeju Island. That’s the scene those still cuts are from. Kim Tae Hee said, “A horseback riding movie is new for me. I’m looking forward to it.”

She talked about practicing horseback riding, “I’m still not very good but I’m trying to be in the best condition when I go into filming. Horseback riding is a sport that will make you feel energetic.” It has been three years since she was seen on the big screen so I’m sure the fans are looking forward to seeing her than the horses.

Lee Junki suffers from the same pain as Joohee in the movie and roots for her very discreetly. He used to be a famous horseback rider but after an accident, he loses a friend. He wanted to give up everything but then he meets Joohee.

Lee Junki said, “The movie’s story was what drew me into it. But Joohee’s character was so lovable and beautiful to me. And my character Wooseok has a charming image as well.” The movie will be released at the end of the year.

20 03 2010

Remember the Korean Learning Game with Bae Yong Joon for the Nintendo DS last year? Well, that was catered for the Japanese market but something new featuring Lee Junki will be released soon for those who wants to pick up Korean.

Lee Junki recently participated in the production of a new Korean teaching material called, Hello Korean, specially created for those who wants to pick up the Korean language. He expressed,

Everytime I go for overseas activities, I am very touched by fans who make the extra effort to learn Korean to communicate with me.

Even though there’s a growing interest from foreigners who desires to learn the Korean language, there is a lack of suitable learning material for beginners. So I decided to participate in this project for free. I hope that my little bit of effort can be of assistance to those who wants to learn the Korean language.”

For those who will be getting this, you will be hearing Lee Junki in the audio teaching material while his name will also appear as it is in the book.

This set will be released in 4 different versions (Korean, Japanese, Mandarin and English version) and will go on sale this April.
